Linda Longtin (Parton)

Linda M. Parton, 82, of Jamesville, New York died Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse following a brief illness.

Linda was born in Syracuse, New York on January 29, 1944, daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Osgood Longtin. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Maryanna Winzens.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, James Parton; daughters, Amy (David) Shaffer and Bonnie (Mike Lamendola) Parton; grandchildren, Kandice (Sam) Graniero and Erica (Tim) Traub; six great-grandchildren.

Services at Bellevue Heights United Methodist Church, 2112 South Geddes Street, Syracuse, New York are being planned and will be on a date and time to be announced.

William Fred Loucks

William F. Loucks, 61, of Liverpool. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Central Tech High School, Mohawk Valley Community College and Oswego State Teachers College. He formerly was employed as a Trainer for School Bus Drivers with the West Genesee Central School District, Onondaga County Park Ranger for 15 years, retired school teacher with the Lafayette Central School District, taught at the Gillette Road Middle School of the North Syracuse Central School District and taught summer driver education for the East Syracuse-Minoa Central School District. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Liverpool, Liverpool Fire Department, and was active in numerous State and County Fire Police and Fire Department Associations. He is survived by his brother, John D. Loucks, Sr., of Liverpool; NC. Funeral services. Maurer Funeral Home. Intermen. North Syracuse Cemetery.

John Robert Lydon

John “Bob” Robert Lydon, of Syracuse, NY passed away on August 30th, 2025 at 82 years old.
Bob was born on August 20th, 1943 to the late Robert and Mary Lou (Teubner) Lydon in Johnson City, NY. After Bob graduated from Blessed Sacrament in 1959, he joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Lowery during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

In October, 1986, Bob married Elizabeth “Betsy” Staffa at Dewitt Community Church.
Bob was an electrician for Key Bank for 25+ years. In 2003, Bob retired and spent his time woodworking, fishing with his father, and spending time with his friends at the Tipperary Hill American Legion.

He is survived by his loving wife Betsy of 39 years, his son William (Rebecca), his three grandchildren, Anna, Elizabeth, and John. He is also survived by his five siblings, Patrick (Ann) Lydon, Christine (Paul) Zoltowsky, Terry (Leone) Lydon, Bonnie (Michael) Yonkovig, Matthew (Connie) Lydon, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 PM Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the American Legion Tipperary Hill Post 1361, 1951 E. Fayette St, Syracuse, NY 13204, with a brief Memorial service at 2:30 PM in celebration of John’s life, food and refreshments will be provided.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the American Legion Tipperary Hill Post 1361.

Mary Maloney (Whelan)

Mary K. Whelan, 83, of Syracuse passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at home. She was a graduate of Central Tech in 1960. Mary was an active member of Most Holy Rosary Church. She spent most of her life involved in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority doing many beneficial things for families in the community with fellow Sisters. She also enjoyed many fun years with The Onondaga Ski Club with her late husband and doing annual trips to the Covewood Lodge on Big Moose Lake. Mary was a very kind and compassionate individual. She always loved to take the time to get to know every person she met. She was always so active and loved her lunch / dinner dates and weekly hair appointments for fun chats.

She is predeceased by her husband John, a son Gerry and sister Margaret.

Surviving are her daughters Jean Brooks (James), Julie Antonucci. Four grandchild, Alec Antonucci, Isabella Antonucci, Donovan Brooks, Ethan Brooks. A brother John Maloney (Diane), Tom Maloney (Mary), Sisters in Laws Carol Whelan, Lillian Whelan and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Whelan Bros & Hulchanski Funeral Home, 5854 Belle Isle Road, Syracuse, NY 13209. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am in Most Holy Rosary, 111 Roberts Road, Syracuse, NY 13207 with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt, NY.

Kenneth Martin

Kenneth Charles Martin, 82, of Syracuse, passed away April 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Ken was born in Syracuse, New York on September 17, 1943, to Kenneth and Anne (Landi) Martin Sr. He proudly served in the United States Navy for four years, including service on a submarine. Kenneth retired from V&R Tool and Die in Syracuse, where he became close with the owners and they unofficially took him into their Macedonian family. The only thing he liked more than the spicy food was the great friendships.

A long time north-sider, Ken was a father figure to many in the neighborhood, including friends and extended family. He was a cheerful storyteller at heart, with almost non-stop jokes (often inappropriate), and a great story to tell (often a re-run), “and stuff.” He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, good food that he loved to cook and share with others, including excessive amounts of fried shrimp each Christmas eve. Food was an expression of his love, but he was never shy about telling you he loved you too, “and stuff.” He will be missed for the mischievous twinkle in his eye, his big smile, big beard and belly laugh, and his warmth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Anne Martin Sr., and brother, Rick Martin.

He is survived by his children, Kevin (Francine) Martin, Michelle Martin, Scott (Lizzy) Martin, grandchildren Joshua and Mitchell Martin, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 12–3pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in North Syracuse, with a service to immediately follow at 3pm. The burial will be held privately for the family at St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.

The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the providers at Buckley Landing, his last residence, and at Upstate for their care and compassion in his final days.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ken’s memory to the Upstate Foundation.

James Mathews

James (Jamie) Mathews was born in Syracuse, New York on February 13, 1944. He graduated from Central Technical High School and attended the University of Americas in Mexico City and the New York State Police Academy. James was an employee of Mohawk Airlines prior to joining the New York State Police. As a New York State Trooper he was assigned to the 270 Rifle team, Bomb Squad and Robot operator. Trooper Mathews was promoted to the Bureau of Criminal Investigations in Troop D assigned to several high profile narcotic cases throughout the State of New York. Throughout his career he received several commendations. After retirement James was elected Town Justice in Skaneateles, New York and owned Mathews & Associates investigative services. He then moved onto the Sunshine State of Florida becoming a resident of Pompano Beach. James embodied two important areas of life which were God and Country. Not to forget his fun loving humor, a unique character for sure. James was predeceased by his father, John Mathews and mother, Sarah A. Mathews. James is survived by his companion Susan Lennox of Auburn, NY, his brother, John “Jack” Mathews, a niece Sarah and nephew Anson Mathews and a great niece Mahogany Mathews. Also importantly are the many brothers and sisters in law enforcement and close relationships, all who he loved. Visitation will be prior to the service at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 14 at 10:00am in Our Lady of Hope Church, 4845 South Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13205. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
