Kenneth W. George

Deceased • 3/17/2007 • Age 64

Kenneth W. George, 64, of Presidential Plaza, Syracuse, passed on March 17, 2007, at the Francis House. He was born in Schenectady, NY, on July 21, 1942, the son of the late David and Marion George. Ken graduated from Guilderland Central High School, class of 1959. He is also a graduate of St. Clare’s Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in Schenectady, class of 1961. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Russell Sage College in 1967 and was employed on the staff of the Department of Radiology at Memorial Hospital in Albany from 1961-66. He was also on staff at St. Clare’s Hospital, Leonard Hospital, and Samaritan Hospital in Troy. In 1967 Ken accepted an appointment on the faculty staff of the State University Upstate Medical Center where he was Chief Clinical Instructor in the School of Radiologic Technology and later became Assistant Professor of Medical Radiography. He served in the Department of Medical Imaging Sciences at the Upstate Medical Center for over 30 years and retired in 1998. Ken is survived by his sister, Judy, and his brother-in-law, Marcel Charland, of Florida, and his niece, Kristie, and nephew, Daniel Charland, of Denver, CO. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at FARONE & SON, 1500 Park St., Syracuse. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday at FARONE & SON and a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, Lowell Ave., Syracuse, NY. Interment will be on Friday, 12 noon, at Memorial Gardens, Albany, NY. Friends wishing may make a donation in lieu of flowers to the Kenneth George Scholarship Fund at SUNY Upstate Medical University, 730 East Adams St., 301 CAB, Syracuse, NY 13210. This scholarship is awarded yearly to students in the medical, imaging, radiation therapy or respiratory programs. (Published Syracuse Post Standard on Mar. 20, 2007)

Gloria Goff

Gloria M. Goff of Manlius, passed peacefully after a long illness. She retired from the Hartford Insurance Co., Hartford, CT. Gloria enjoyed cross stitch, skiing, genealogy, bowling and especially children. She was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert and Elva Goff; and siblings, Kenneth B., Glenda G. Roberts, Grant P., Gretchen I., Gene M. and Gerry K. She is survived by her dear friend, Grace E. Portzline; siblings, Gilbert L., Jr., Gary D. (Judie), Gail L. Stoycon, Greg D. (Betty) and Geoff G., Sr. (Brenda); and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at White Chapel memory Gardens in DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to an upcoming benefit for her nephew, Edward “Jimmy” Grenga, Jr., c/o Gina Grenga-Bristol, 1924 Harwood Dr., Lacona, NY 13083.

Barbara Gould, 72, of Fairmont Gardens passed away suddenly Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a retired secretary for SU and an avid Syracuse University sports fan. She later retired from National Government Services and attended Northside Baptist Church. She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Carol Miller, Janet Halliday, Jim & Melanie Checksfield. Graveside services in St. Agnes Cemetery will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 7965 Oswego Rd., Liverpool, NY 13088.

Rita J. Graham, 76 of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home. She was the only child of Albert and Bessie (Worden) Graham. She was a graduate of Central High School. Rita retired after many years from Community General Hospital as a Medical Transcriptionist. She was a member of the Legion of Mary, also the Most Holy Rosary Senior Club, and a long time communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church. Rita will be remembered for her compassion and caring ways in helping others. Visitation will be Thursday, March 12 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in Most Holy Rosary Church,111 Roberts Avenue, Syracuse, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM in the church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with her parents. Contributions may be made in Rita’s name to Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Avenue, Syracuse, New York, 13207.
