Joseph P. Ficarro, Sr., age 76 of Yardley, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA. Born in Syracuse, NY, Mr. Ficarro resided in Endicott, NY and Charlotte, NC before moving to Yardley 36 years ago.
Joseph was a graduate of Syracuse University, and retired from IBM as a project manager after 40 years of service. Mr. Ficarro was a parishioner of St. Ignatius of Antioch Roman Catholic Church in Yardley. Being a Syracuse graduate, he was an extreme fan of all their sports teams, especially their football and basketball teams. He liked sports in general, but thoroughly enjoyed college basketball and the Philadelphia Eagles. Additionally, he was known as a “news guru”, watching all the news channels and devouring the Courier Times. Joseph loved working around the house and was especially fond of gardening. Most of all, he was devoted to, and enjoyed, his grandkids.
Son of the late Paul and Susan (DeSantis) Ficarro and husband of the late Nancy Joan (Nelipowitz) Ficarro. He is survived by his daughter Stacia A. Ficarro of Paoli, PA, two sons and daughters-in-law Thomas J. Ficarro and JoEllen Thorn of Cranford, NJ and Joseph P. Jr. and Kristina Ficarro of Pine Hill, NJ, a sister Marilyn Stone of Columbus, OH, two brothers and sisters-in-law John and Betsy Ficarro of Pinehurst, NC and Paul and Mia Ficarro of Bradenton, FL, five grandchildren Joseph P, III, Alaina Nicole, Claire, Lily and Phoebe Ficarro and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his older brother Robert Ficarro of Vero Beach, FL and sister Ann Lou Luciano of Terrell, Texas.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his Funeral Mass at 12 Noon on Monday, August 12, 2019 at St. Ignatius of Antioch Roman Catholic Church, 999 Reading Ave., Yardley, PA 19067, where friends may call from 11 AM – 12 Noon. His interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery, River Rd., Yardley.

MaryLee J. Giocondo, 77, of Liverpool, died on Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a graduate of Central Tech. MaryLee retired as a claims adjuster from Home Insurance and formerly worked for General Accident Insurance and INA. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, crochet and watching baseball. She was the past-president of the Pulaski Post 1650 American Legion Auxiliary. Her parents Leo and Mary Fisher are pre-deceased. MaryLee was a very loving person, especially with her husband & children. She is survived by her loving husband of more than 58 years, Frank “Fran” Giocondo; children: John, Kim (Bill), Leo (Kim), Francis; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a private service for her immediate family at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and interment in Woodlawn Mausoleum. Anthony R. Gandino, 64, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday at home. He was a graduate of Syracuse University with two master’s degrees in social work. He was a captain in the U.S. Air Force, serving during Vietnam. He was a social worker for 34 years with Berkshire Farms Center for Youth and had worked for Forensic Consultants. He was a communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Church and was an avid fisherman, hunter and photographer. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony, in 1970. Survivors: his mother, Helen Gandino DeMascio; wife of 42 years, the former Marian McConnell; daughter, Elizabeth (William) Brown; sons, Christopher (Tracey), Richard and Anthony (Mary); grandchildren, Anthony, Timothy, Maryann, Theresa and Brandon; brother, David (Cheryl); and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph the Worker Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1001 Tulip Street,Liverpool, NY 13088.
